MORGANTOWN – An organization in Morgantown that puts veterans back to work received its largest donation ever, Oct. 19.
Morgantown Marathon race Director Jamie Summerlin presented a check for $65,000 to the board of directors at Operation Welcome Home.
All proceeds from the Inaugural Marathon went to this organization.
So far this year, Operation Welcome Home has helped 20 veterans get back to work.
Summerlin said this donation will enhance the work the organization does in the region.
“It gives us the opportunity to introduce ourselves more to other veterans in the community and help them figure out that there’s people here that appreciate their service, and now it’s our turn to serve them,” said Summerlin.
Summerlin hopes to officially announce the date for next year’s marathon early in 2016.
